Timothy Brown choreographed his first work at the Australian Ballet School, Melbourne in 2000. Acting as a catalyst for a choreographic career path, this work 'Little Tell Tales' won the Peggy Van Praagh Award for AICD Dance Creation 2000. After graduation, Timothy pursued his choreographic development, creating 15 works for Queensland Ballet and their Professional Year.

In 2009 Timothy was commissioned to choreograph for Expressions Dance Company as a part of ‘The Dance Makers’. He also conducted choreographic workshops for EDC’s Express Lab and Brisbane Contemporary Dance Intensive. His most recent creation on EDC was an experimental work-in-progress in ‘Launch Pad: Double Act’ season.

Since breaking freelance in 2010 Timothy has created a new work for The Australian Ballet for the Sydney season of Bodytorque: a la Mode and toured to Melbourne to show case a new work for AICD Dance Creation performed by Queensland University of Technology students studying their Bachelor of Fine Arts in dance.

Timothy trained at The Victorian Collage of the Arts Secondary School and the Australian Ballet School in Melbourne. In 2001 he joined Queensland Ballet dancing in major performance seasons and tours though Europe, Singapore, and Japan. During his time at the Queensland Ballet Timothy performed works by choreographers François Klaus, Nils Christe, Paul Boyd, Young Soon Hue, Timothy Harbour, Stephan Thoss and William Forsythe.

Turning his attention to contemporary dance Timothy joined Expressions Dance Company and performed works by choreographers Maggi Sietsma, Natalie Weir, Cheng Tsung-Lung and Vanessa Mafe. Timothy is currently performing as a freelance artist, recently working for choreographer Claire Marshall on independent projects including music video clips.

Timothy is currently a guest teacher for a wide range of dance schools in Brisbane and rural Queensland.

‘It is a welcomed challenge to educate students of all ages and with diverse dance backgrounds and experience. I am motivated to pass on my extensive knowledge in technique, partnering skills, improvisation and safe dance practice as well as facilitate insight into the artistry of dance and choreography.’

Timothy is available to teach contemporary and classical technique classes including coaching and private tuition. Choreographic workshops and artistic residencies are available for secondary education and private dance schools. Please contact for any further information.
